The project receives one of the Sustainability Actions 2026 awards for its scientific deployment to investigate and combat marine waste in the Bay of Biscay.
The Ulysses Data for Science project has been recognized with one of the Sustainability Actions 2026 awards, presented within the framework of Sustainability Day, for its work against marine litter in the Bay of Biscay. The award highlights an initiative that brings together scientific research, technology, and citizen participation to contribute to the protection of the marine environment.
Ulysses works to better understand the journey of waste, from rivers to its arrival at sea. To do this, it combines the use of devices that allow tracking its path with the collaboration of scientific partners such as AZTI and the involvement of society in the knowledge and care of the environment.
This collaboration allows for pooling efforts to study a problem that requires a joint response. The information obtained contributes to understanding how marine litter moves and to guiding actions to address it.
The recognition gives visibility to the shared work that Ulysses makes possible and reinforces its commitment to research, dissemination, and collaboration as ways to move towards more protected seas.
