🌊 Science and sport came together in the Zumaia Flysch Trail.
Izaskun Zorita and Maria C. Uyarra, researchers at AZTI, took part in the Running Minds event to raise awareness of the problems caused by plastics and microplastics on our coasts and their impact on the health of the sea.
As part of Ulysses, 24 runners became ambassadors of the initiative by launching the project’s first three vessels, each decorated with personal messages. Each vessel is equipped with GPS to precisely track the journey it will take in the ocean, simulating the movement of marine litter. 🚤
In this way, through Ulysses, we continue advancing our commitment to researching how waste moves in the sea and raising awareness about the need to reduce it.
Thank you to the Kilian Jornet Foundation for supporting this path toward healthier and more sustainable seas!
